1.

Which are the minimum system requirements for mycDENT?
For mycDENT to function adequately, the minimum system you need is: IBM compatible PC, 256 MB RAM, 150 MB free hard disk space, Windows XP Professional/2000 Server, Intel/AMD 700 MHz processor, CD-ROM unit and a minimum of 1024x768 pixels of screen resolution.

2.

Why doesn't the install process start as soon as the CD is inserted in the drive?
The 'Autorun' option of your CD-ROM unit might be disabled. In this case, open 'My Computer' and select the drive containing the 'mycDentv1.0' CD. Run the install program by double-clicking 'setup.exe'.

3.

Is is absolutely necessary for all programs required during installation to be installed?
mycDENT uses a series of features of some free programs and will not work in their absence. All those programs can be found on the original 'mycDentv1.0' CD and will be installed automatically.

4.

Do I have to buy additional licenses for the auxiliary programs?
No additional cost is involved with the installation of the auxiliary programs, as they are come with free licenses from their respective producers.

5.

Why doesn't mycDENT continue installing after I install '.NET Framework'?
If '.NET Framework' is not installed, the program will notify you and stop running. To run it again, follow the instructions at question no.2.

6.

Why doesn't any installation window open for 'Internet Information Server' (IIS) and 'FrontPageServer Extensions' when I press the 'YES' button?
If pressing 'YES' will not open the installation window for those two components, you may find instructions on the CD in the file 'IIS Instructions.htm'. Insert the 'mycDent' CD in the drive after you have installed the two components and the install program for mycDENT will restart.

7.

Why can't I find these components on the Windows installation disk?
Check your Windows version. mycDENT cannot be installed on Windows 98 or Windows XP Home Edition. That's because mycDENT requires a web server previously installed on your computer. Because of that, you may only install mycDENT on Windows XP Professional/2000 Server/2003 Server.

8.

Should I reboot my computer when the install program for 'Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8' (MDAC 2.8) requests it?
Rebooting your computer is not necessary if MDAC 2.8 is completely installed. This way you won't interrupt mycDENT from installing. It is recommended to restart Windows after the mycDENT installation is complete.

9.

How do I know that mycDENT has been successfully installed? I haven't received any confirmation message
Look for the confirmation window in the Windows status bar. It might be possible for it to get minimized at the end of the installation. In that confirmation window press the 'EXIT' button.

10.

What happens if I don't activate my copy of mycDENT?
The program will not run unless activated, either permanently (when you buy a license), or as an evaluation 'DEMO' (the application will run for 40 hours).

11.

What happens if I activate mycDENT as 'Demo'?
You will be able to use mycDENT for 40 hours. If during this evaluation period, or after it expires you decide to buy a license, you will have to follow the instructions for the next question.

12.

How and when can I permanently activate mycDENT?
The program may be permanently activated at any time in the evaluation period, or even after it expires. Based on the serial number generated at the time of installation and various other computer-specific data, an authentification code is generated. By calling +4021 256 92 03, you will receive an activation code to type in its respective fields, then you may press the 'ACTIVATE' button.

13.

Why won't any financial report nor any patient file open?
There may be two situations that cause these errors:

A. Check for write permission in the program folder.
a) - Open 'My Computer' and navigate to the 'Inetpub' folder, on the partition where your Windows resides. Continue to 'wwwroot'. In this folder, right-click on the 'mycDent' folder and choose 'Properties' from the list that pops up. Search for the 'Security' option in the tab list, between 'Sharing' and 'Web Sharing'. If the 'Security' tab does not exist, press 'CANCEL' and follow the instructions at point b). If it does exist, skip to the instructions at point c).
b) - Click on the 'Tools' menu and select 'Folder Options'. In the new window, choose 'View' and search for the 'Use simple file sharing' option (it is usually last). Make sure it is not checked, then press 'OK'. Return to the properties window of the 'mycDent' folder (by right-clicking the said folder and choosing 'Properties'). Continue with the instructions at point c).
c) - Click on the 'Security' tab, then look for 'Everyone' in the 'Group or user names' list. If it does not exist, press 'ADD' and type 'Everyone' in the new window. Then press 'OK' to return to the previous window, and select 'Everyone' from the list. In the 'Permissions for Everyone' list, make sure 'Full Control' is checked in the 'Allow' column. Then press 'OK'.

B. Check that the installed 'Adobe Acrobat Reader' version allows opening of 'PDF' files in 'Internet Explorer'.
This requires an 'Internet Explorer' plugin that allows it to open 'PDF' files. Usually, this plugin is automatically installed by 'Adobe Acrobat Reader', but not always. The 'Adobe Acrobat Reader' version on the mycDENT CD, does install the plugin automatically when installed. If the install program has detected a newer 'Adobe Acrobat Reader' version on your computer and has not installed the one on the mycDENT CD, we recommend you check that the version on your computer allows 'Internet Explorer' to open 'PDF' files. If you do not know how to do that, we recommend you install 'Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0' from the mycDENT CD.

14.

Why can't I save pictures of medics or radiographs in the program?
Follow the instructions at the previous question, heading A.
